Happy Monday, dear readers! So sorry, I just couldn’t stick with my blogging routine today. Why? Because Chicago Q Ensemble is in the studio this week, recording Kyle Vegter’s amazing music for FJORDS. We spent the day at beautiful Engine Studios, where folk idols like Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine have recorded. We felt just as cool as they are! And we’re ahead of schedule. When we were feeling bad about a screw-up, Kyle deadpanned: “Dude, you guys have messed up, like … ONCE.” He is our happy composer Zen guru in the studio. Lucky us!

(This console ... whoa.)

Oh, and as if the recording session wasn’t enough, the Community Arts Assistance Program grant — the first grant we’ve ever applied for — was due today. So Sara and I were scrambling all weekend to finish it. And I sliced the tip of my right thumb while cooking, so typing’s a bit dodgy … Anyway, cross your fingers that we’ll get rich, I’ll heal quick, and look out tomorrow for a post to make up for my tardiness.
